Punjabi-Speaking Therapist in Ontario

Virtual therapy in Punjabi, English, or a mix of both, with Agam Palta, MA, Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO #18891).

ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। You can talk about what matters in the language that feels most natural.

Why therapy in Punjabi can help

Some feelings land differently in the language you grew up with. The words you use with your parents, grandparents or partner often carry meaning that gets lost in translation. In our sessions you don’t have to translate yourself. You can speak Punjabi, English, or switch mid-sentence. Whatever helps you say what you mean.

Many Punjabi families didn’t grow up talking openly about mental health. If “ਲੋਕ ਕੀ ਕਹਿਣਗੇ” (what will people say) has kept you from reaching out, you’re not alone, and what you share here stays confidential.

What we can work on together

  • Anxiety, stress and overthinking
  • Family expectations, pressure and guilt
  • Marriage and relationship concerns, including in-law and joint-family dynamics
  • Low mood, burnout and losing motivation
  • Life transitions: moving, settling into a new country, career changes, becoming a parent
  • Grief and loss
  • Men’s mental health and finding it hard to open up
  • Addiction and its effect on you and your family

Culturally aware care

I understand the pull between respecting family, faith and community and making room for your own needs. We won’t ask you to reject where you come from. We’ll work on what helps you feel steadier within your own values. Explore all services or read about who I am.

Common questions

Do I have to speak only Punjabi in sessions?

No. You can use Punjabi, English or Hindi, and switch whenever you like. Many clients mix languages, and that is completely welcome.

Are sessions in Punjabi online?

Yes. All sessions are virtual, so you can join from anywhere in Ontario, including Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor and beyond.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. As a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO, I keep your information private. The few legal limits to confidentiality are explained clearly in your first session.

Will my insurance cover sessions?

Many extended health plans cover services from a Registered Psychotherapist. You will receive receipts to submit. Please check the details of your own plan.

Ready to talk it through?

A free 15-minute consult is a low-pressure way to ask questions, in Punjabi or English, and see whether working together feels right.
