Your first session: a simple checklist
Everything you need to feel ready for your first virtual session, from booking to the moment you log on.
Before your session
Questions to ask your insurer
- Does my plan cover a Registered Psychotherapist?
- How much is covered per session, and what is my yearly maximum?
- Do I need a doctor’s referral?
- Is couples therapy covered, and under whose plan should I submit?
Clover provides receipts you can submit to your extended health insurer. Coverage depends on your plan.

What to expect
- Sessions are 50 minutes. We’ll start by reviewing consent and confidentiality, so you know exactly how your information is protected.
- We’ll talk about what brought you here and what you’d like to change. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. You set the pace.
- Bring any questions you have about how therapy works, my approach, or how often to meet.
- Before we finish, we’ll agree on a next step and how often to meet: weekly, every two weeks or as needed.
Good to know
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give 48 hours’ notice to avoid the full fee.
- Payment and receipts are handled through Jane.
- Sessions are available in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
